Chris Bates

Mr. Bates joined GPA in February of 2016 as a Senior Fixed Income Analyst.
Prior to joining Government Portfolio Advisors, Mr. Bates was a founding partner of Bates Private Capital, Inc., a firm primarily engaged in securities litigation support and forensic accounting. During his 17 years at BPC, Mr. Bates was responsible for designing the information systems used to produce reports used at arbitrations and trials. In addition to creating the “Bates Report” which became a standard of the securities litigation industry, Mr. Bates consulted to attorneys in hundreds of contested broker-dealer arbitrations and testified as an expert in client brokerage accounting, foreign exchange, and options trading. Prior to Bates Private Capital, Mr. Bates worked in New York at Chemical Bank in the Foreign Exchange department, and before that, Mr. Bates was at United Brands Co. hedging foreign exchange risks.
He received a Bachelor of Arts in European Studies from San Diego State University.
